Argentine and Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi who was in the news in the past weeks due to his refusal to train and also his decision to leave the club has now confirmed that he will remain in Barcelona.
Messi’s move was link to Manchester City, but his current contact at Barcelona has blocked him from moving.
The Argentine while speaking with reporters said: “I was not in a good mood so i decided to leave. But, unfortunately i was blocked, i will remain in Barcelona to avoid legal issues.
“The present management at Barcelona directed by Bartomeu is a very big problem.
“I thought and was ready to move, the president at most times told me that i can move at the end of the season.
“Now the management says i didn’t tell them before June 10, while we were busy competing in the La Liga amidst the coronavirus.
“It is impossible to leave right now because the president said that the only time i can move is to pay the €700 million clause.”
The news of Messi staying back came after the forward’s father, Jorge Messi which stated that his son’s €700m buyout clause is not acceptable.
In La Liga’s statement it was revealed that their position remains same and that the clause is still valid and must be paid.
This decision forced Messi to accept the final rule and remain in Barcelona.
This could push Messi to battle it out in court which might make him loose his legacy of two decades in Barcelona and could possibly bow down and still stay.
The Argentine simply went for the second choice and will remain in Barcelona for the 2020/2021 season.
