Youtube appears to be back running smoothly after a major worldwide crash- where many users complained of problems with the site.

According to the outage tracking service Down Detector, reports of issues were widespread across Youtube’s services, with people struggling to access Youtube TV and Youtube Music service.

Complaints came in from numerous spots across the globe, from the UK to Australia, but were most heavily concentrated in the US.

As observed by Independent UK, ninety-six per cent of users complained about struggling to watch videos and there seemed to be a problem loading content on both their own and other’s channels.

The site interface, however, continued to load normally, with the search bar and video thumbnails still accessible.

TeamYoutube responded to the outage on Twitter, stating: ‘If you’re having trouble watching videos on Youtube right now, you’re not alone.

Our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. We’ll follow up here with any updates.’

They have since posted: ‘We’re back – we’re so sorry for the interruption. This is fixed across all devices & YouTube services, thanks for being patient with us’

While they waited for the service to return, Youtube users flocked to social media to talk about the incident, with many posting memes to vent their frustration.

In particular, people joked about desperately switching between Wifi signal and network connection in an attempt to solve the issue.

YouTube has around two billion monthly users, making even the smallest technical problem a significant event. Every day, people watch more than a billion hours of video on the site, it claims.
