1. ASUU Warns Other Staff Unions: “Don’t Use Us As Bait”
ASUU, therefore, advised NAAT or any other staff union to fight their battles their ways.
The Chairman, University of Lagos, UNILAG chapter of ASUU, who is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the union, Dr. Dele Ashiru, stated this on Sunday while reacting to claims by NAAT expressing displeasure with the sharing arrangement of the N40 billion released by the Federal Government as Earned Academic Allowances for university workers. 2. Federal Govt Reportedly Fails To Honour Pact With ASUU
The dons, in a statement, said the government was yet to pay their December salaries, while “illegal” deductions were still to be refunded.
In the release, the union said the government had “again failed to honour its agreement on payment of not only outstanding salaries of members ranging from five to eight months; Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) and check off dues illegally deducted before December 31, 2020.” CONTINUE READING..
3. COVID-19: Ebonyi State Govt Directs Schools To Reopen On Jan. 18
The Ebonyi State Government on Saturday directed schools across the state to resume for the continuation of the first term of the 2020 /2021 academic session on January 18.
Education Commissioner, Onyebuchi Chima, said in Abakaliki that “resumption of academic activities in Ebonyi schools has been shifted to Monday, Jan. 18, as against the initial resumption date of Jan. 4.” CONTINUE READING..
