Hoodlums Attack Security Guards; One Killed, One Injured

At Alimosho Road, Pako bus stop, Lagos, two security guards were reportedly attacked by hoodlums at 1 am midnight, one killed and the other severely injured.

The report has it that the guards, Saliu Dairi, 38 and Isiaka Samba whose duty post is on Alimosho Road, Pako bus stop in Lagos stopped some men who turned out to be hoodlums at around 1 am in the night asking them where they were heading to.

The hoodlums who are reported to have weilded matchets and cutlasses became furious and attacked the guards hacking one, Saliu Dairi to death and leaving Isiaka Samba injured.

The only person who was present after the murder is a shop owner in the environ by name, David Afolabi who said he heard the screams and groans of the victims the night.

David, according to a Punchng correspondent said, “I knew about the incident when I opened my shop on Wednesday, April 1. I learnt the guards asked those boys about their mission in the area the previous night. Instead of replying, they attacked the guards with cutlasses and killed one of them. The other one sustained injuries to one eye and on admission at a hospital. The incident was reported at the Gowon Estate Division.”

The Police has been reported to visit the scene and took the corpse to station where the deceased relatives came and claimed the body which was buried according to Islamic rites.

CSP Muyiwa Adejobi who is the police spokesman in Lagos confirmed the incidence and said they are working with the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, and other tactical squads of the command to make sure the culprits are brought to justice.
