Nigerian Army Discovers and Sets Ablaze Oil Smuggling Depot in Rivers State


A section of the Nigerian army on patrol earlier today reportedly nabbed some group of oil smugglers and destroyed their vehicle and products in Odogba community in rivers state.

As comfirmed by a military official in Asa, none of the outlaws were caught as they all fled into a nearby bush before the soldiers arrived.

Reports has it that, the security operatives after examining the left behind vehicle of which the steering was left not unlocked – to create difficulty in taking it to base – and seeing that it was used in transporting smuggled crude oil, decided to destroy the vehicle, setting it ablaze with its contents.

According to a Vangaurd correspondent, the Nigerian army 144 battalion Asa Ukwu West of Abia state and some operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, were on joint patrol at Owaza area which is a town in between Abia and Rivers States when they discovered the smuggling depot.
