Tottenham Sacks Mourinho; See Why

In the heat of recent controversy over the emergence of a new era in European football, Tottenham Hotspurs who are among the English big six teams to declare admittance into the new European Super League proposal, earlier today announced the relieve of its manager, Jose Mourinho.

The report says, Mourinho, former Chelsea and Manchester United coach who was appointed as successor to Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019 has been sacked by Spurs with his coaching staffs, Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra at the eve of Carabao cup final with Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho, from Portugal, who has been seen as one of the best European coaches of the century, started his coaching career at FC Porto.

Since then, he has managed big teams like Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

What might be the reason for this sudden action by Spurs?

In a statement released by the club, through its chairman, Daniel Levy, said; “The club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties.

“Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic.

“On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”

Spurs have also confirmed that the club’s former midfielder Ryan Mason, who is currently head of player development, will take first-team training on Monday, Goal.com notes.

First, it should be noted that the reason for Mourinho’s sack has nothing to do with the club’s decision to join the European Super League, as a first thought might lead.

It is quite clear that, in the last few games, (apart from Sunday’s) Tottenham’s performances has been questionable, especially being evicted from the Europa league competitions even after a first leg victory.

Mourinho who is believed to be a defensive minded coach, had been been questioned on the teams poor recent performance, and as a widely known word Lord, he replied saying, “Same coach, different players”.

Mourinho refused to take blames for the teams poor running.

He had started the season very well, winning his North London derby against Arsenal, and had climbed top of the league table, but couldn’t retain the position for long.

According to Goal.com, He took in 86 games as Spurs manager, collecting 44 victories from those outings to go alongside 19 draws and 23 defeats.
