Seven policemen have been feared killed following fresh attacks by gunmen at a police division and checkpoints in Rivers State.

The gunmen, who were said to have operated in their numbers, reportedly raided the Rumuji Police Divisional Headquarters in Emohua Local Government Area killing some policemen and checkpoints along the state’s axis of the East-West Road.

The marauders were said to have beheaded some of their victims as they carried out their onslaught despite the curfew imposed by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Sources said two policemen were killed at Ogbakiri checkpoint and two at the C-4-i checkpoint along the East-West road.

They were said to have started their raid at about 10pm on Saturday but other sources said they heard multiple gunshots at about 1am on Saturday.

The police were said to be on their way to the scenes of the incident to determine the extent of damage by the gunmen.
