Russia Embarks On Shooting a Film In Space – The first of it kind

Russia has begun preparations to shoot a film in space as it would be the first of it kind, Brainnewspaper reports.

This is done with hopes that Russia would be the first country of the world to ever make a movie in space according to Roscosmos.

It was made known by The Russian Space Agency on thursday that Filming will take place at the International Space Station and that Actress Yulia Peresild, 36, and director Klim Shipenko, 37, will be the performers.

The Guardian notes that the film according to Roscosmos, will be titled “Challenge” and will be in the genre of a “space drama” and co-produced by Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia’s space agency.

The two performers, Yulia and Klim are set to undergo special training, including tests on a centrifuge and flights in zero gravity, starting no later than 1 June.

Another producer of the film is Russia’s main TV channel, Channel One, which will document the pre-flight training of the performers.

This fit, according Roscosmos is aimed at popularising Russia’s space activities, making Russia the first country to shoot a film in space, and also to glorify cosmonaut profession.
