Biafra Spirit Can Never Be Quenched – MASSOB
MASSOB has said that Biafra spirit can never be quenched, The Nation can confirm.
A leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Uchenna Madu, has hailed the people for complying with the sit-at-home order.
He said the late Odumegwu Ojukwu, who declared the anniversary 54 years ago, remained the greatest Biafra hero.
Madu said yesterday in a statement that the success of the exercise was a demonstration of the people’s unquenchable quest for Biafra.
“Our people have made a statement that can never be ignored.
“The dehumanisation and sufferings our parents experienced during the Nigeria- Biafra war will never be forgotten. The deep hatred and conspiracy of the British government, in collaboration with the North, exhibited against the people of Biafra during the war, are still fresh in our memories. The spirit of Biafra can never be quenched,” he added.
Madu said the sit-at-home would motivate the United Nations to consider granting referendum to determine the independence of Biafra.
He said: “The people of Biafra have once again demonstrated their love and quest for Biafra.
“This year’s overwhelming compliance with the sit-at-home commemoration of Biafra anniversary day will motivate the United Nations and other international organs to consider organising a referendum to determine the independence of Biafra from the Nigeria state.”
Describing Ojukwu as an incorruptible leader, Madu noted that the sacrifices of the warlord would not be forgotten.
