Bishop Ibenu Rebukes Buhari, Says “FG Cannot Declare War In Southeast Without Approval From N’Assembly

The Kano state governor Ganduje has on Wednesday made the declaration of opening the public hearing concerning the constitution review and amendment for Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Kastina States.

According to reports gathered by BRAINNEWSPAPER the chair leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria Kogichapter Bishop John Ibenu has expressed dismay in a two-day north central public hearing that was held and concluded on Wednesday, 2 June 2021.

In his statement he rebuked the action of President Muhammadu Buhari saying “the Federal Government cannot declare war in the southeast without the approval of the National Assembly“.

Furthermore, the house debated that it is inordinate and totally against the guidance of the constitution to declare war on any part of the country without consulting the ruling crew. The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has totally gone against the constitution after he made a genocidal tweet about the southeast, threatening to call up war and harsh treatment upon its youth.

In a similar situation, a senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana also declares fault in President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet on Wednesday during the South-west zonal public hearing that was conducted by the House of Reps in Ikeja, Lagos State.

In his statement gathered by BRAINNEWSPAPER correspondent report, “Under the constitution section 305, the president cannot declare war on any part of Nigeria without the approval of the National Assembly. A statement of emergency should be the first thing to be declared,, but none has been declared in the. Southeast. Therefore, there’s no way killings in the southeast can be justified by the constitution”

The South-west public hearing pushed forward a request to the National Assembly to help stop the genocidal action about to be taken by the President.

They requested that President Muhammadu Buhari should be called to order through due process according to the constitution.
