The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed 10 June and 1July 2021 for gatherings to direct their primaries for the assignment of contender for the Anambra political decision.
Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), made the declaration toward the finish of the administration meeting of the commission on Friday.
Festus said that the Anambra State Governorship political race will occur on 6 November 2021 for every the Timetable and Schedule of Activities delivered by the commission.
“To this end, Political Parties that have shown interest in assigning possibility for the political race will direct their primaries for the selection of applicants between tenth June and first July 2021.
“The commission, as a component of its legal oversight duties, hosts kept in touch with every one of the political gatherings that showed interest in directing gathering primaries and supporting possibility for the political race on their duties and commitments.
“Ideological groups looking to select competitors should hold immediate or backhanded primaries and the hopeful with the most noteworthy number of votes toward the finish of casting a ballot will be proclaimed the victor of the primaries and the wannabe’s name sent to the commission as the up-and-comer of the gathering,” Okoye said.
The IVEC director likewise said that parties that would hold direct primaries should make rundown of representatives accessible to the commission just as competitors in any event seven days before the lead of primaries.
He cautioned gatherings to direct legitimate primaries and stay away from caustic, obscure and slanted .primaries prompting avoidable prosecution.
