Lewandoski transfer rumors

It is no secret Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel are on the hunt for a new centre-forward.

Since Tuchel was appointed as boss, the one thing the Blues have struggled with most is the most difficult thing in football: finding the back of the net.

Timo Werner arrived with huge expectations last summer and despite showing glimpses of his talent, the Germany forward did struggle at times in front of goal.

Tammy Abraham does not seem to be fancied by Tuchel and Olivier Giroud looks set to join AC Milan in the very near future.

Abraham has also been linked with a move away, but if both of them leave, then Chelsea have no choice but to enter the transfer market for a new striker.

Even if the aforementioned trio were to stay put at Stamford Bridge, the likelihood is that Tuchel would still look for more firepower up front.

Upamecano wants to be Bayern’s leader on the pitch.

Erling Haaland is a man wanted by Chelsea, but a move for the Borussia Dortmund superstar looks more likely to happen next summer when his reported €75million (£64m) clause becomes active.

Another man linked with a sensational summer move to Stamford Bridge is Bayern Munich and Poland star Robert Lewandowski.

According to Sport Bild, Chelsea are keen on signing Lewandowski, who has just under two years remaining on his existing contract with the 2020/21 Bundesliga champions.

The 32-year-old Pole has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, though, and the latest reports coming out from Spain do not spell good news for Blues supporters.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Los Blancos ‘already know’ of Lewandowski’s ability to ‘accept new challenges’ amid his current situation at the Allianz Arena.

Madrid were reportedly close to signing the Bayern striker in 2014 when he left Borussia Dortmund, but were just pipped by the German giants.

However, the report states that when the window is set to reopen in around 12 months’ time Chelsea could face some stern competition from the Spanish giants.

The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

It does also claim, though, that the situation with Kylian Mbappe and Haaland will have a huge impact on whether Carlo Ancelotti’s side make a move for Lewandowski, with Madrid thought to be keen on both forwards.

Chelsea forward Werner has previously revealed his admiration for Lewandowski, back when the German striker was with Leipzig.
