Below is the list of Nollywood practitioners who studied overseas:

1. Adesua Etomi

Adesua Etomi-Wellington was born in Owerri, Imo State on February 22, 1988. She starred in her first feature film knocking on Heaven’s Door in 2014.

Adesua attended Corona School in Victoria Island, Lagos, where she joined the drama club at the age of seven. Thereafter, she attended Queen’s College, Lagos before moving to the United Kingdom at the age of 13. She later obtained a diploma in “physical theatre, musical theatre and performing arts” from City College Coventry in 2004.

Upon completion of these courses in 2006 with triple distinctions, she studied drama and performance at the University of Wolverhampton, graduating with first-class honours.

2. Falz

Folarin Falana was born on October 27, 1990. He is better known by his stage name Falz. He is a rapper, songwriter and actor who began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called “The School Boys” with his friend before his professional career as a music artist began in 2009.

Falz completed his basic and secondary school education at St. Leo’s Catholic Primary School, Ikeja and Olashore International School, Osun State respectively.

He is an alumnus of the University of Reading England, having graduated with an LLB honors degree in Law.

3. Chika Ike

Chika ‘Nancy’ Ike was born in Onitsha, Anambra State on November 8, 1985.

In 2004, Ike enrolled in the University of Lagos (Unilag) for a 2-year diploma program in human kinetics and health education. She completed the program in 2006, earning a certificate.

In 2014, she graduated from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, California where she studied film-making.

4. Zainab Balogun-Nwachukwu

Zainab Balogun-Nwachukwu was born on October 10, 1989. She is a Nigerian actress, model and a television presenter. She began modeling at an early age after being scouted at 16.

She attended Christ the King Sixth Form College where she completed her A Levels in Law, Psychology, and English Language & Literature. She then attended the University of Kent in Medway where she received a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB).

5. Reanne Weruche Opia

Reanne Weruche Opia was born on April 11, 1987. She is a Nigerian film and stage actress and entrepreneur.

Opia migrated to Britain at the age of 13.

Opia holds a degree in drama and sociology from the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Kemi Adetiba was born on January 8, 1980. She is a Nigerian filmmaker, television director and music video director. She is the Director of the trending Movie ‘King of Boys’.

Adetiba holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Lagos.

After years of success being in front of the camera, Adetiba enrolled into the New York Film Academy to learn the ropes about being behind the cameras and today, her bodies of work as a director are spread across the African continent and beyond its borders.
