He sought the cooperation of the residents to make the military mission a success.

The CDS urged journalists and other media practitioners to shun reports that could trigger violence but practice what he called responsible journalism and reportage that would foster peaceful coexistence among residents of the state.

General Irabor said these on Thursday while addressing reporters in Jos, the Plateau State capital, at the headquarters of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) after assessing the security situation on the Plateau Jos and the activities of personnel in the state.

The CDS visited Miango in Bassa Local Government Area and some parts of Jos North Local Government Area which recently witnessed killings and destruction of property for assessment.

He gave reasons for the appointment of a single commander for Operation Safe Haven. Irabor said: “I authorised the new arrangement because Jos had enjoyed relative peace in recent times. I felt a need to streamline the operational procedure of the OPSH and the 3 Division, hence the single commander.”

The CDS also explained that his visit to Jos was meant to boost military efforts and ensure incremental peace in Plateau State.

He urged the residents and other stakeholders to give useful information to security agencies that could lead to the arrest of criminals in the state.
