JUST IN: APGA Postpones Soludo’s Victory Dance Over Sit-At-Home In Anambra

APGA has postponed Soludo’s victory dance over sit-at-home in Anambra State.

Despite the declaration of Prof Charles Soludo as the winner of the governorship election in Anambra by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there’s no celebration of any sort in the State yet, The Nation report.

APGA Postpones Soludo’s Victory Dance Over Sit-At-Home In Anambra

The reason, according to the chieftains of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is because of the sit-at-home order by the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).

The leader of the pro-Biafra agitators Nnamdi Kanu appeared in court for trial on Wednesday and the group threatened to deal with anyone that disobeys the order.

Soludo was announced the winner Wednesday morning by the governorship election Returning Officer, Prof Florence Obi.

But the victory dance was cut short by IPOB’s sit-at-home order

Speaking with The Nation, the Chairman of Soludo’s 24 support groups in the State, Sir Jude Emecheta, said the security situation in the State would not allow such celebration at this period.

He said that everyone was afraid to come out for fear of being attacked or harmed by non- State actors, adding that there was time for everything

“The leader of IPOB went to court on Wednesday and before then, there had been threats from all angles and people decided to respect themselves by staying indoors.

“Sincerely, the situation is not good for us but what do we do in such respect, rather than to obey. APGA will celebrate the victory, but we should skip today ” Emecheta said

Anambra Chairman of the party, Sir Norbert Obi, did not see it the same way, rather, he attributed it to the stress from the campaigns

He told The Nation that the people should bear with the party as it would plan on how to go about it

“People want to rest in their houses after so much stress occasioned by the campaigns and other things, we are not afraid, but APGA will do the needful soon,” Obi said

Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano, Chief Obi Ochije, on Awka Community, the reason was the sit-at-home directive from IPOB.

“Nobody wants to die. Everybody is afraid to come out, you can see how quiet everywhere in the state is because Nnamdi Kanu was brought to the Court

“This is a situation we have to live with for a long time and Ndigbo are gradually getting used to it. It’s unfortunate,” Ochije said.
