NDLEA has revealed why they stormed Lagos Island, The Nation report.

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has explained why its operatives stormed Lagos Island area of Lagos State on Saturday.

The agency explained that its operatives stormed Lagos Island to arrest a female drug kingpin.

Although the agency did not disclose her name or details, it noted that she was arrested alongside five others with almost 6,000kg of drugs.

The Nation reports there was pandemonium when operatives of the agency stormed areas including Patey, Dumare, Tapa, Freeman and its environs.

In one of the videos seen by The Nation, there were sporadic shootings as suspected hoodlums engaged the operatives.

It was learnt that there were casualties but The Nation cannot independently verify how many people got killed in the face-off between the operatives and the suspected hoodlums.

Reacting, the agency in a terse response on his verified Twitter handle said: “A lot of fake narratives have been going on on what happened at Petty area of Lagos Island earlier today. Please disregard them.

“Truth is our operatives went for the arrest of a major drug kingpin and we got her and 5 others with almost 6,000kg of drugs despite attacks on our men.”
