Plateau Communities Protest Gunmen Attacks, Killings

Plateau communities has protested gunmen attacks and killings, The Nation report.

Coalition of ethnic youth Nationalities from the Northern Senatorial zone, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau chapter and youths with women on Wednesday gathered at the new Government House protest recent killings in Bassa communities in Plateau State.

The Nation reports several communities in the past one month have suffered heavy attacks by suspected herdsmen in Bassa local government council.

Over 20 persons have been confirmed dead with massive destruction of farmlands and homes.

The protest was led by National President of the Irigwe Youth movement Ezekiel Peter Bini.

The protesters called on government to show commitment to securing the lives and properties.

The Secretary to the State Government Prof Danladi Atu, while addressing the protesters, assured the government was working on resolving the killings in Irigwe land and bring lasting peace to the communities.
