ASUU Strike: The Union Reveals Their Latest Action As They Wait For Federal Government Reply

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has announced that they are waiting for the Federal Government to reply their new presentation that was submitted on Monday.

It has been understood that the strike will be called off base on FG response to the demands of the union made through a set up committee.

According to Vanguard, ASUU has made its presentation to Prof. Nimi Briggs-led committee set up to renegotiate with the Federal government.

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the National President of ASUU, said that their union had done its best in the circumstance. He said this while speaking to a Vanguard correspondent: “We have made our presentation to the committee and there is nothing more to add,

“They promised to get back to us within a short time.” Said Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.

The major issues ASUU are having with the Federal Government are staff welfare, payment of Earned Academic Allowance, payment of Revitalisation Fund of N200 billion yearly for at least six (6) years to provide facilities in the universities, stoppage of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS.

However, the Nigerian students are hoping that all issues are sorted out by the Federal Government this week so that academic activities can resume in our campuses.
