Operation Akpakwu Takes Responsibility For Killing CRUTECH Student In Calabar
According to reports, Operation Akpakwu has taken responsibility for the killing of a 400-level CRUTECH student in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
CONVERSEER reports that Cross River State Government’s joint operation security team, Operation Akpakwu has taken responsibility for gunning down one Austin Norwich Kingsley, a 400-Level student of the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS (formerly CRUTECH).
Brainnews earlier reported that security operatives shot dead Kingsley, a 400-Level student of the Department of Computer Science on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Calabar campus, close to the Department of Biological Sciences.
A statement issued on Saturday, February 11, 202, by Dr Alfred Mboto, Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Governor’s Office, Calabar, said the student was not killed by the Department of State Services (DSS) as claimed by the misleading reports in some national dailies and social media platforms.
The statement also said Kingsley was not, after all, an “innocent student” as reports had portrayed him.
“To set the record straight, the alleged student is known by the pseudo name, ‘Valley’.
“However, his real name is Austin Norwich Kingsley and he is a notorious cultist, armed robber and kidnapper who has been on the wanted list of security agents for a long time.
“Valley was wanted for the murder of a fellow student, kidnapping and armed robbery for almost a year.
“He was on a mission to commit a heinous crime in the institution when he was intercepted by the State Government Owned joint security Operation team code-named ‘Operation Akpakwu’, while on patrol.
“On sighting the joint security team, Valley opened fire on the operatives who returned with superior firepower. In the ensuing exchange, he was gunned down.
“This clarification becomes necessary so as to put a lie to the allegation that DSS operatives wholly neutralised valley.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Operation Akpakwu is comprised of the Police, Army, Navy, Air Force, DSS and Civil Defence operatives.
“The general public is urged to disregard the deliberate misinformation aimed at impinging on the integrity of the DSS”, the statement by Mboto read.
