HONORING THE REMARKABLE SERVICE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF PROFESSORS UKANA AKPABIO, ANTHONY UDOH, ESSIEN UDOSEN, AND EDWARD ASUQUO

On Friday, 16th February, 2024, the department of Chemistry as a community gathered to bid farewell and honor the exceptional service and contributions of Professors Ukana Akpabio, Anthony Udoh, Essien Udosen, and Edward Asuquo from the Department of Chemistry. As a proud student of the Department of Chemistry, it is with deep respect and gratitude that I joined in to reflect on their remarkable legacies.

Prof. Anthony Udoh, who served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, leaves behind a legacy of transformative leadership and unwavering dedication to academic excellence. During his tenure, Prof. Udoh achieved numerous milestones, including the introduction of the amnesty program, providing students with a second chance to excel academically. His implementation of the summer program, allowing students to resit courses, has been instrumental in supporting student success. Moreover, his commitment to enhancing our learning environment is evidenced by the complete renovation of our chemistry laboratories, ensuring that students have access to cutting-edge facilities conducive to learning and discovery.
